Dark Skin Makeup Call Out: MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Face Powder
MAC Cosmetics….Your Deepest Dark and Dark Deep Mineralize Skinfinish products is neither deep nor dark.
I’m very disappointed.
I’ve been wanting to try MAC’s Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Face Powder for a while and was inspired from my last photoshoot to revamp my makeup. My makeup artist, Courtney, did such an amazing job with my makeup but she didn’t use this product on my skin.
I was going to order it online, but I was passing Macy’s, and decided to pop in and purchase this item in-store.
I asked the MAC sales associate to point me in the direction of their mineralize skin finish in deepest dark, and to my surprise, it wasn’t deep or dark at all. I actually questioned if the sales associate was showing me the correct product, I was in disbelief.
Now’s here’s the thing, there are medium and darker brown tones that are lighter than my skin complexion that this product works for.
Honestly if we’re talking shade ranges, it’s hard to believe people in the NW 50 and up tones (Fenty Beauty 490 and up club) are using this product unless they want brighter highlights.
I couldn’t believe it, even the Caucasian sales associate acknowledged the issue and encouraged me to write a customer comment to MAC.
She then recommended other brands since they have better color selections for their finishing products. I even went to another MAC counter in NYC and a sales associate recommended a different brand as well for me to try.
*My skin is dry/ashy in the photos.
When I think of phrases such as deep dark or dark deepest (as it relates to skin) my immediate thoughts are, these products are for darker skin tones. Please correct me if this sounds like a incorrect correlation to make with these terms. I also know that what’s considered a darker skin tone can be lighter than my skin. I know there are many levels to dark skin.
MAC I have such a love for you and I want you to continue to win BUT while they have created amazing products that have catered to people with darker skin tones it’s like the complete opposite side of the spectrum when it comes to their foundations, pressing powders, and PRO LONGWEAR concealers. There’s definitely some inconsistencies that I’ve noticed with MAC and their product offerings over the years.
MAC please create a setting powder which truly caters to darker skin tones. You are way too seasoned in the game for this conversation to happen.
Is it just me? Let me know your thoughts.
