6 Lessons I learned after Re-reading the Alchemist in my 30’s
One of my favorite humans at the moment is Amanda Seales I experienced her Queendom attending the Smart Funny and Black Lituation Tour in Chicago. I’m a fan of her podcast, Small Doses, and in her episode: Side of Effect of Being in your 30s SHE DROPS GEMMMMMSSSS, (GEM DROPPIN WE DROPPIN ON DEM HOES, GEM DROPPIN).
So at 31 I started re-reading the alchemist. I read it once at 28 during the baby stages of my spiritual awakening. Honestly, I remember it being a good read, but at 31 this book has really opened up my mind especially since I’m currently pursuing my passions. So here are some of my takeaways from my Alchemist re-read at 31.
WE ALL HAVE TREASURES
Alexa: Play ‘Treasure’ by Bruno Mars
Now your treasure doesn’t necessarily mean rubies, diamonds, or bars of gold. It can mean traveling anytime on your own time, having your own successful business, being an artist, a Supreme Court judge, a teacher, etc.
Your treasure is your God given purpose, your blessings which are waiting for you once you go out and follow your divine path.
Your treasure is YOUR treasure! No one else can claim your treasure its there always waiting for you once you follow your divine path. No one can claim your blessings, and they are endless!
Follow the signs
Not only should you follow the signs, BELIEVE IN THEM! God has prepared a path for everyone, and planted signs that will keep you on this divine journey to pursing your purpose.
Most of the time it’s the smallest signs, such as a conversation, meeting a new friend, a random piece of advice, an opportunity at work that presents itself. You must honor and trust that the puzzle pieces are falling into place and act accordingly. Remember, everything happens for a reason.
You will be Tested
The Shepherd boy gives up on pursing his treasure after having a negative experience (He was robbed) during his journey (A LESSON PLANTED BY THE UNIVERSE). He decides to work in a Crystal shop and save money to purchase another flock of sheep to return to being a Shepherd.
The tests and lessons never stop, in fact, they become amplified as you’re on your journey to pursing your purpose.
Listen you will have a story to tell and come out much stronger and wiser! Let the tests come and leave with it as a lesson
The universe will test you to lean on it instead of leaning on something else. You must trust and surrender to the universe, LEARN THE LESSONS so when the universe provides the blessings you will know it came from the universe/God and not anything else. My God, my God!
relax that Resume ain’t going no where!
But your dreams will……..
The Shepherd Boy realizes his skill of being a Shepherd will NEVER GO AWAY. HE CAN ALWAYS RETURN TO BEING A SHEPHERD HIS RESUME AND SKILLS WILL ALWAYS REMAIN BUT HE WONT BE AS CLOSE TO THE TREASURE AS HE IS AT THAT MOMENT!
MANY OF US ARE CLOSE TO OUR TREASURE BUT GO BACK TO WHAT WE KNOW, WHAT’S COMFORTABLE, BECAUSE THE JOURNEY TO THIS TREASURE STARTS TO GET DIFFICULT. Many of us hate change, it feels strange, its uncomfortable. It’s easy for us to run back to our old lives, to what we already know, BUT OUR OLD LIVES AREN’T GOING ANYWHERE.
The skills that you’ve learned in life, your resume, will never go anywhere! You can always go back to being a project manager, merchandiser, engineer but that treasure that life’s purpose what your heart has been yearning for will not always be there or as easily attainable especially as we grow older (kids, aging, additional responsibilities of adulting, etc.)
You know What Your Purpose in Life is already
SAY IT WITH ME! IN_tuition, IN, IN_tuition
In the beginning, the Gypsy and king of Salem told the Shepherd boy the thing he already knew and charged him due to him already knowing about his treasure. YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR PURPOSE ON EARTH IS!
Our purpose has been placed on our hearts since birth. In life we encounter many things that interfere with pursuing our dreams such as society, school, friends, family, fear, insecurities, the list goes on and on. Some people were blessed with people that nurtured their dreams at an early stage instead of dismissing them. The amazing thing about this is, your dreams never go away, they’ll just keep haunting you all throughout your life until you pursue them.
If you can’t figure out your purposes (I believe people have more than one purpose) figure out your passions. Your passions, what you love and constantly think about doing in life, will lead you right to your purpose.
IN the end, Everything is LOVE
In this world, on this journey, we are all connected, we are all ONE. The same HAND, that created this world, the same HAND that keeps the Earth rotating, that keeps the planets in place, in an unknown universe, is the same HAND that created us all.
This world was created and functions off of one thing: Love
Love is the only language understood by every living creature on this planet. Your passion should align and add back to the love that keeps the world going.
Love Happy……
