My Current Favorite Drugstore Makeup Products for Dark Skin
I love a good mix of high-end and drugstore makeup products in my collection. It’s not always about the brand, its about the product, quality, and execution. As we now know, you don't need to spend a large sum of money on high-end products to get flawless make-up results. I love drugstore products especially now that makeup companies are beginning to invest more in quality and expand their portfolio especially with shades.
One thing I'm certain of, no one is going to come up to you and say "hey you’re wearing $50 foundation" (if they do tell them to back-up and find them some business). A beat face is a beat face no matter what the price is. There’s no difference between a $25 or $200 beat. With that being said, here are a couple of my current favorite drugstore makeup products.
NYX Butter Gloss: Strawberry Parfait
Price: $4.99
I love this gloss! NYX Butter Gloss glides on smooth, doesn't feel sticky, and provides a natural soft pink bubblegum tint.
I prefer gloss over lipstick, and at times it’s hard to find a soft pink that looks natural on dark complexions.
Maybelline The Colossal Spider Effect Mascara
Price: $6.99
I receive numerous compliments on my eyelashes to the point where people think I’m wearing lash extensions (HEY NOW!). THIS IS WHY!
I love Lancome Hypnose mascara but as much as I wear mascara I can’t bring myself to spend $27.50 each time plus tax. This is a great alternative which still provides volume and length.
It's also easy to remove at the end of the day. I don't use eye-makeup remover, just wipes, this mascara isn't a hassle to completely remove.
Maybelline Fit Me Matte Foundation
Price: $7.99
This foundation is a drugstore blogger favorite and I understand why, its a quality foundation for a good price.
Matte foundation great for oily skin
Long Lasting without movement: One day I wore this foundation from 11:00 AM to 12:00 AM (Long day running around NYC)
Great match for darker complexions!
Con: The glass container needs to have a better top dispenser, currently the foundation just pours out with no control. It's also not that lightweight, so personally I wouldn't use it during the Summer.
NYX Micro Brow Pencil
$9.99
This thin retractable brow pencil is amazing! Eyebrows aren't my favorite thing to complete, they take sooo long but they must be done. I'm too impatient at the moment to use dip brow and this pencil produces quality results
Inexpensive alternative to Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow pencil ($23)
Easy to use and blends well creating a natural appearance
It doesn't smudge and the colors match well with your natural brow shade (I use black, but it isn't too dark like jet black)
